Sick Thursday

It's 12:00pm.  We're sick.  Seba is still sleeping -- he woke up last night at 5 unable to breathe through his stuffy nose, I:
  • rubbed his back while he lay in bed -- but as soon as I stopped he popped one eye open, gave me a look like "nice try" and started crying
  • rubbed baby Vicks VapoRub on his little chest and sang him a song
  • changed his diaper
  • made him a small bottle and let him drink it in our bed --- *ching, ching, ching* we have a winner.
After the bottle the Sir Stinky was awake and alert -- he wanted to play....uhhhh.... no.  I think he sensed that his daddy was about to scoop him up.. cause he grasped onto my shirt and gave me a look like "no mommy don't let him take me away"  (as sad as this look was... it was also sooooo cute... I felt special -- this is selfish, but true.

Good morning afternoon Stinky:

poor boy-- collapsed after crawling out of bed =(

still sick, but looking better

definitely better. he even has that "look" in his eyes

the "I'm going to attack Bob look"

There you have it.  Not even a sick Thursday can stop our stinky.

I had all these plans to post the rest of The Adventures in Stinky Standing... but I'm so tired and there's a not-so-sleepy prince at my knees. G'night.

Wonderfully Wordless Wednesday

Seba's VERTICAL!

Yupperoonie, you read correctly the prince is

He's been dabbling in standing for a while now... wibbling and wobbling around... grasping, grabbing, gripping anything that will help him get a grapple on this standing business.  And alas, the boy is vertical:

Not walking... but --> upright, perpendicular, on his feet --- temporarily ---
until he let’s go and...Kaput!  falls to the ground --- but like any Prince in the face of adversity, the stinkster is up for the challenge!  And what a challenge it has been... for me.  Having a crawling - slash - learning to stand baby is like having a new born puppy always at your feet.  He's sniffing around looking for anything to get in his mouth. He's climbing up, on, and over whatever he can... whatever he can't as well.  When we're eating dinner -- there he is at my feet looking up and smiling.  When I wake in the morning there he is pushing the door open and snooping inside.  He's a cute little puppy.  He's our cute little puppy.  Whoever said "dog is a man's best friend" surely doesn't have a Seba.  But we do. And we love him. Immensely.  I'm sure he loves us too -- he's trying to stand-up to give us heaps and heaps of hugs... I just know it.  That, and he's curious.

So while surfing the net and obsessively reading blogs, with Seba at my feet, ankles, then knees -- I came across this wonderful one called: The Paper Mama.    --> Chelsey posts photo challenges for  fellow bloggers --> this week's challenge is: "a hint of colour".  I immediately thought of how perfect it was to have a challenge within a challenge.  So here is a picture of Seba's 'challenge' that we entered in The Paper Mama's Photo Challenge:

Seba is wearing Lil jo's footwear -- we'll talk more about these awesome shoes later!

I took the photo today while he was climbing his favourite chair.  He eyes this chair like it is Mount Everest and he is Sir Edmund Hillary -- he must conquer the chair -- he has conquered the chair.
The Mighty Conquerer Sir Stinky Grossi.
What will his next mission be?
Stay Tuned.

Sick Monday... but Supercalifragilistic Sunday!

What an deliciousdelightfuldivine weekend we had.  We did nothing.
Oh gracious nothing how I've missed you.  Oh slow Sunday how I've ached for you.
We ate.  We drank.  We slept.  We did it again.  And again.

We were slow to rise Sunday morning -- it looked a little something like this:

Bottle.
Back to bed.
Good Morning Part 2 was more like this:

And slowly progressed to this:

Yup! The stinky prince pooped -- on the TOILET.  We were reading a little bit on Infant Potty Training -- not planning to do much with it, but just interested.  It goes a little something like this:

  • Anticipate when your infant needs to go

  • Make a watery sound such as "sssss" or say "pee pee"  when he seems like he is about to go (we missed this step but...

  • When you think he needs to go, hold him over the toilet while making the 'sound'
ahhhh...smiles
Apparently the baby is supposed to pick up on the sound cue and within a short time associate it with elimination -- meaning he will be able to make this sound and/or point when he needs to use the bathroom.

And so we tried it.  Well Stefano tried it -- I was sleeping when the scream of his voice beckoning me to the washroom with my camera awoke me from the intense cookie dream I was having (an entirely different story all together).  Rushing to the bathroom I found a proud papa holding a piccolo poopie prince on the toilet -- and yes, he was pooping.

Oh! Almost forgot... Stefano added this step to the Infant Potty Training -  Italian Style:

Then we cut our nails.

Annnnnd.... back to sleep.

The difference between sleeping and SNOOZING!
Entered this one in A Sorta Fairytale Challenge!

Good Morning Part 3 was a little more permanent:

Our afternoon went pretty much like this:

While I cooked

Seba did a little of this:
Is he saying "naa naa naa boo boo"?  Is he saying "ciao ciao"?  Is he singing "Skidamarink a dinky dink"?
Who knows?!

And papà did a lot of that:

Stop stealing the pancetta! Slap!

We ate a lot of this for lunch and a whole lot of this for dinner.

Seba ate this:

And then
he
clapped.

CLAPPED.

Not for the dinner, not for the poop.  Maybe he clapped for nothing? -- Maybe he too loved our nothingness Sunday?

We had a lovely day....even if now I am having a sick Monday.  Through my stuffy sniffles I smile  thinking of my Supercalifragilistic Sunday and look forward to millions of Sundays to come.

It's not that unusual

When everything is beautiful

It's just another ordinary miracle today

The sky knows when it's time to snow

Don't need to teach a seed to grow

It's just another ordinary miracle today

Life is like a gift they say

Wrapped up for you everyday

Open up and find a way

To give some of your own

Isn't it remarkable

Like every time a raindrop falls

It's just another ordinary miracle today

Birds in winter have their fling

Will always make it home by spring

It's just another ordinary miracle today

When you wake up everyday

Please don't throw your dreams away

Hold them close to your heart

'Cause we're all a part of the ordinary miracle

Ordinary miracle

Do you want to see a miracle?

It seems so exceptional

The things just work out after all

It's just another ordinary miracle today

Sun comes up and shines so bright

And disappears again at night

It's just another ordinary miracle today

It's just another ordinary miracle today

A special shout out to my awesome boyfriend Stefano for taking care of us while I'm sick... and above all, shedding tears to cut my onions at lunchtime. I love you so much... and more.  Yes Seba... mommy loves you too, you little miracle you.
